seasonal map
Dr. Cynthia LeDoux-Bloom investigated the distribution, habitat use and movement patterns of sub-adult striped bass (sexual immaturity) over a 17 month period from June 2010-November 2011. Sub-adult striped bass (n=99) were surgically implanted with acoustic transmitters and tracked by a large, stationary acoustic receiver array located in the San Francisco Estuary Watershed and nearshore Pacific Ocean.

Welcome to the Environmental Water Quality and Estuarine Studies Branch of DWR’s Division of Environmental Services, Office of Water Quality. Our mission is to collect data on the factors that affect ecological resources in the Sacramento – San Joaquin Estuary and convert it to information for agency and public use. Our goals are to ensure compliance with the State Water Resources Control Board’s Water Rights Decision D-1641, and to detect ecological changes in the upper estuary that are related to water project operations.
