About the Environmental Water Quality and Estuarine Studies (EWQES) Branch
Mission and Goals
The Mission of the Environmental Water Quality and Estuarine Studies Branch is to collect data on the factors that affect ecological resources in the Sacramento - San Joaquin Estuary and convert it to information for agency and public use.
The Goals of the Branch are to ensure compliance with the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) water quality objectives, Water Rights Decision D-1641, and to detect ecological changes in the upper estuary related to water project operations for more efficient management of the estuary.
Organization
The EWQES Branch is part of the Office of Water Quality in DWR's Division of Environmental Services.
