Flood Management

Disclaimer

These rainfall depth duration frequency tabulations have frequently resulted from converting operational data to design data for which it is not always suited. This is because of things like gage over capping with snow. It contains a lot of estimated data. The estimates are generally in italic type, but they are not all flagged. These tabulations could be considered as a second round in a negotiation, since a careful inter station check on data consistency has not been made mainly in the CDEC data. It is suggested that a massive redundancy in data set be used when applying these records to critical hydrologic design.

Note:

After 6/20/2002 the frequency factors for Pearson's Type III distribution are calculated By Approximation. This is based on "Pearson's Type III Distribution" by G.W. Kite, from Frequency and Risk Analyses in Hydrology, WR Pubs. Littleton CO, 1988. Thanks to Norman Gonsalves of Caltrans Dist. 4 for this contribution.
