After a major disaster is declared, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) will be provided to States and local governments to implement long-term hazard mitigation measures.

For hazard mitigation planning and the implementation of mitigation projects prior to a disaster event. (Maximum Federal Share: $3 Million per Mitigation Project; $400,000 per Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update and $800,000 per new Local Hazard Mitigation Plan)
Reducing or eliminating the long-term risk of flood damage to buildings, manufactured homes, and other structures insurable under the National Flood Insurance Program. (Maximum: $50,000 per flood component of Local Hazard Mitigation Plans)
Provide funding to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of flood damage to severe repetitive loss (SRL) structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program. (Maximum Federal Share: Limitations may vary with the proposed project, for more details please visit the Cal EMA website)
