California Floodplain Management Task Force
Creation of the California Floodplain Management Task Force was one recommendation of Assembly Bill 1147 (2000), as well as the 1997 Flood Emergency Action Team report. The focus of the Task Force, which comprised of individuals from State and local agencies, nonprofit organizations, the business community, and other key participants, was to examine specific issues related to State and local floodplain management, including actions that could substantially reduce potential flood damages, and to make recommendations for more effective statewide floodplain management policies. In December 2002, the Task Force released its recommendations in the California Floodplain Management Report.
