Delta Levees Maintenance Subventions

The Delta Levees Maintenance Subventions Program is a cost share program that provides technical and financial assistance to local levee maintaining agencies in the Sacramento - San Joaquin Delta for the maintenance and rehabilitation of nonproject and eligible project levees. The Subventions Program is authorized by California Water Code Sections 12980 through 12995 and is managed by the Department of Water Resources. The Central Valley Flood Protection Board (formerly Reclamation Board) reviews and approves the Department's recommendations and enters into agreements with local agencies to reimburse eligible costs of levee maintenance and rehabilitation.
