In accordance with California Water Code (CWC) sections 231 and 13800, DWR is updating the Geothermal Heat Exchange Wells Standards in FY 2012 - 13. Per the CWC, DWR is responsible for developing minimum standards for construction, maintenance, abandonment and destruction of GHEW, water wells, monitoring wells and cathodic protection wells.
