INVESTIGATING UNDERWATER VIDEO TECHNOLOGY
The IEP has been working on developing underwater video technology and software for sampling pelagic fishes in the Delta and Estuary. This technology could allow researchers to sample without lethal take of threatened and endangered species. Investigators have been field testing the feasibility of enumerating and distinguishing between pelagic fishes in the turbid environment of the Delta, with a prototype that is submersible, airtight and neutrally buoyant.
