Department of Water Resources (DWR) Office of Tribal Policy Advisor is the central point of contact to coordinate communication and consultation with DWR to ensure effective communication with California Native American Tribes. The Tribal Policy Advisor provides policy support for the Chief Deputy Director and Director and is responsible for various aspects of policy development and implementation in consultation with California Native American Tribes. The Tribal Policy Advisor coordinates communication and outreach with other state agencies. The main purpose of the Tribal Policy Advisor is to ensure and facilitate effective Government-to-Government consultation between Department of Water Resources and California’s Native American Tribes and Tribal communities.

As directed by the Governor’s Executive Order B-10-11 and the California Natural Resources Agency policy regarding consultation with California Native American Tribes, the Department of Water Resources conducted government-to-government consultations on the EIR/EIS for the BDCP.
