The Quality Management Program at DWR strives to ensure that all environmental data generated and utilized by the Department are of known and verifiable quality, technically valid, and appropriate for their intended purpose. The program provides a foundation to ensure analytical results used for environmental decision-making, modeling, and forecasting are based on principles of sound science, comparability, and transparency.
The Quality Assurance Support Services Unit assists Department programs in the implementation of integrated, planned, quality control activities at all levels of the environmental monitoring lifecycle. These activities include standardized and documented data collection, analysis, and reporting protocols, defined data quality objectives, and the implementation of continuous, feedback-based process improvement. In addition, the efforts of the QA Support Services Unit are tailored to the specific needs of individual programs and may include Quality Assurance Project Plan development, document control and data management, internal auditing of laboratory and field operations, tracking and trending analytical data and quality control results, and data validation.
