Agricultural Water Management Planning & Implementation Program
Under Assembly Bill 3616, the Agricultural Efficient Water Management Act of 1990, Water Code Section 10900-10904; the objective of the Agricultural Water Management Planning & Implementation Program is to provide technical, financial and administrative assistance to the Agricultural Water Management Council and to assist water districts throughout the State develop Agricultural Water Management Plans and implement cost-effective Efficient Water Management Practices (EWMPs).
"The Mission of the Agricultural Water Management Council is to advance the efficiency of farm water management while benefiting the environment."
The Council Signatories are are Agriculture - Group 1, Environmental - Group 2, and Other Interested Parties - Group 3.
The responsibilities of the Council, Agricultural signatories, and Environmental signatories are outlined in the Agricultural Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU provides comprehensive guidelines for the preparation of water management plans and implementation of cost-effective EWMPs, analyzed through a Net Benefit Analysis (Exhibit E of the MOU).
The Department provides technical review of water management plans submitted to the Agricultural Water Management Council.
