Basin-Wide Feasibility Studies

We completed two Basin-Wide Feasibility Studies (BWFSs) in the Sacramento River basin and the San Joaquin River basin to refine the scale and location of large-scale system improvements for each basin that were identified in the 2012 Central Valley Flood Protection Plan (CVFPP). The BWFSs identify system improvements that can be further developed in ongoing or new federal cost-share feasibility studies, and they informed the 2017 CVFPP Update and Investment Strategy Technical Memorandum.  The BWFSs provide substantially more detailed descriptions of systemwide improvements than were available for the 2012 CVFPP. They can be further developed in ongoing or new federal cost-share feasibility studies, and they inform the 2017 CVFPP Update and its finance plan, which is part of the  CVFPP Investment Strategy Technical Memorandum.

Sacramento River Basin-Wide Feasibility Study

The Draft Sacramento River BWFS primarily evaluates options for improving the bypass system by refining the scale and locations of systemwide improvements identified in the 2012 Central Valley Flood Protection Plan for the Sacramento River basin. The Sacramento BWFS and Appendices are available upon request by submitting a request for records.

San Joaquin River Basin-Wide Feasibility Study

The Draft San Joaquin River Basin-wide Feasibility Study primarily refines the large-scale actions consistent with the State Systemwide Investment Approach for the San Joaquin River Basin. The San Joaquin BWFS and Appendices are available upon request by submitting a request for records.
