The Sustainable Groundwater Planning (SGWP) Grant Program provides funds for projects that develop and implement sustainable groundwater planning and projects consistent with groundwater planning requirements outlined in Division 6 of the California Water Code, commencing at §10000.
Proposition 1, approved by the voters on November 4, 2014 authorized the legislature to appropriate funds to the Department of Water Resources to establish the SGWP grant program.
Eligible Applicants: public agencies, non-profit organizations, public utilities, federally recognized Indian tribes, state Indian tribes listed on the Native American Heritage Commission's Tribal Consultation list, and mutual water companies (Water Code §97917.(a-b)).
