Welcome
"Integration is easy on paper, but a lot more important
and more difficult in the field than any of us foresaw." – Aldo Leopold, 1934
The DWR Watershed Program works with locally led stewardship
efforts to integrate the needs of communities, urban and rural, with resource
management that sustains watershed ecology. Our program seeks to cultivate and
nurture collaborative management that expands the natural, financial, and social
capital that supports watershed management throughout the state. We strive to
inform and educate people about their watersheds and the benefits and values that
those watersheds provide.
2009 Grant Program News
UPDATED May 2009: Proposition 50 watershed grants are currently frozen due to the bond freeze. DWR is hopeful that grantees will be allowed to resume work shortly. No future grant solicitations are planned at this time. Technical assistance will be limited to helping grantees until all grant work is completed. The program will be discontinued at that time, unless new funding emerges to support the work.
