The California Data Exchange Center (CDEC) installs, maintains, and operates an extensive hydrologic data collection network including automatic snow reporting gages for the Cooperative Snow Surveys Program and precipitation and river stage sensors for flood forecasting.
The Open Data Portal is a new repository of water-related data sets. The data sets are available for download.
The California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) is a program unit in the Water Use and Efficiency Branch, Division of Statewide Integrated Water Management, California Department of Water Resources (DWR) that manages a network of over 145 automated weather stations in California. CIMIS was developed in 1982 by DWR and the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). It was designed to assist irrigators in managing their water resources more efficiently. Efficient use of water resources benefits Californians by saving water, energy, and money.
This portal allows local agencies, groundwater sustainability agencies (GSAs), and watermasters to submit, modify, and view the information required by the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), and enables the public and interested stakeholders to view submitted information and provide comments, where applicable. No login is required for public access.
As a result of SBX7 6 (enacted in November 2009), DWR developed the California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring (CASGEM) Program to make groundwater monitoring information available to the public through a collaboration between local monitoring parties and DWR to collect groundwater elevation information statewide.

It provides participating agencies an online system to access and exchange current flood information in real-time through Web GIS interface. It integrates geo-referenced databases, a real-time data collection and exchange system, and a decision support system supporting other DWR programs, various hydrologic and hydraulic computer models and tools, and applicable flood-related documents.
